An appraiser-authored study on Pearl Certified homes showed a 5% premium when the homes were marketed correctly. Apart from hundreds of thousands of successful installations and a decade long history of performance, the Stella Prime has been tested by some of the largest utility providers in America.  As part of an extensive test with various scenarios, Southern California Edison determined that energy savings ranged anywhere from 11% - 28% from the latent energy recovery of Stella Prime's variable timed fan function alone.  Stella Prime has been tested, verified and/or incentivized by numerous other utilities and engineering firms such as those shown to the right.

Stella APC (Adaptive Photonic Controller) is a revolutionary variable speed fan motor control that converts single speed HVAC fan motors into adaptive speed motors.  Rather than running at full speed during the entire cycle, the Stella APC soft starts the motor and limits 60% of the in-rush current and then ramps the fan up until it has reached full speed.  It then monitors return air temperature and ramps fan speed back down the closer the room gets to its setpoint. 

StellaAPC's autonomous control combines VFS (Variable Fan Speed) along with MSST (Motor Soft Start Technology) that allow it to reduce energy (kWh) by 20 – 40% and reduce noise (DB) by 20-40%.  StellaAPC has machine learning capability and adjusts on a continual basis, based on climate conditions and system settings, guaranteeing to optimize performance.  It also contributes significantly to both dehumidification and destratification creating a more comfortable home that everyone will enjoy. 

The StellaAPC increases fan speed during the early part of the system cycle and ramps down during the latter part.  It’s AI is constantly learning and adjusting based on weather conditions and other variables.  The StellaAPC varies the speed of single-phase fan motors to match air circulation requirements. To achieve this, the device uses sensors and photonic processing techniques to manage/regulate the voltage supplied to the motor.

The methodology for comparison is based on the concept that there is a strong relationship between weather conditions (CDD) and energy consumption of the equipment. This relationship was confirmed for most of the units by creating scatter plots and performing a basic linear regression on the data for the period under study. The sample plot and table below summarizes this test.

This satisfies the requirement for a strong linear correlation (R2 greater than .5) between the data for most units. Once again, we note that holiday and weekend data was ignored as for these periods, occupancy and equipment activity levels vary greatly during these non-traditional off shift times. While some units did not display this strong relationship, they remain included in the overall analysis.

The tables below summarize the energy consumption during each period.  A total aggregate reduction of 20.9 kWh / CDD, or 28% was observed for the monitoring period..

Improved Temperature Control / Comfort

SynCat-360 is a synthetic catalyst injection for compressors that improves efficiency of heat exchange by removing oil fouling and preventing it from reforming as well as causes refrigerant to extract more heat faster and more efficiently.  The solution is binary consisting of two catalysts.  Catalyst 1 improves efficiency of heat exchange by removing Oil Fouling and preventing it from reforming.  Catalyst 2 causes refrigerant to extract more heat faster and more efficiently causing the HVAC system to reach set point more quickly, decreasing equipment run-time and energy consumption.

Oil Fouling of the heat transfer surfaces of air conditioning and refrigeration systems, will cause a loss of efficiency that will continue to accumulate. ASHRAE confirms that performance is degraded by 30% due to the build-up of lubricants on internal surfaces.  SynCat 360 has been tested and proven to eliminate oil fouling, restoring lost efficiencies, creating large utility cost and maintenance savings.

Automatic Optimization 

The Stella Sure Start compressor soft starter automatically optimizes the starting current for HVAC compressors without any user interface.  It provides a dramatic reduction in start-up current, typically up to 70%, but still provides full start-up torque for compressors and motors. This will eliminate light flicker, reduce start-up noise, and extend the life of the motor or compressor. Single phase soft starters are suitable for 1.75 to 7 horse power (hp) motors in the 220/230V models and are suitable between 0.75 to 1.75 hp for the 115V models. Plus, all single phase models work in both 60Hz and 50Hz applications.
